The Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA) includes the titles Using ICT, Multimedia, Graphics and ICT in Enterprise.
The teaching books are bundled with an interactive CD-ROM containing images, movies and other digital material.
The publisher Edexcel (Pearson Education) characterises the DiDA series with the words "...designed to stimulate students'
creativity and develop real-world, practical skills...".
Based on the architecture for interactive paper and cross-media publishing an
interactive version of the DiDA booklet were information from the paper booklet
is linked to information available on the CD-ROM as well as on Pearson's web site
has been implemented in the Global Information Systems (GlobIS) research group at ETH Zurich. The augmented
version does not only provide links to simple digital resources but also
to arbitrary software services. For example, a screenshot of a Microsoft Access database table printed in the booklet
is linked with the corresponding Microsoft Access functionality. After selecting the table in the paper tutorial with
the digital pen, Microsoft Access is started on the computer and the appropriate view of the database table is opened.
Furthermore, handwritten information is captured by the digital pen and may be shared with other students in a
collaborative learning environment.
